My friend Aimee had a great idea... and I thought I would blog a bit about it.
I think she may have done this already at some point, but she was talking about starting up something where you can give back to the community in some way.
Her idea is that when you go thru a drive-thru (like McDonald's or wherever) that instead of keeping your happy meal toy for your children (unless they really need it), rather donate it to a children's cancer hospital. So, after a child goes thru a chemo or radiation treatment, they get to pick a toy out a tub.
It could be something that you collect as a mom's group or thru your church or something like that. You may also have to phone Information at the hospital first and see if there is some sort of cancer care that you can add that too...
It's food for thought anyway! And some motivation for us to SLTB. :)
I read this verse from Matthew 5 this morning:
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
...But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?"
